日常生活 —王南飞作品自述

我的艺术作品是源于我对人际关系和人类生存状态的兴趣和理解而创作的. 是以我为中心的,关于我的生活,我周围的环境和我是谁的问题的进一步剖析. 我经常想到发生在我生活中的事, 我去过的地方和我认识的人, 美丽的,丑恶的, 就象是电影或者是一页页的日记在我的脑海里一遍一遍的浮现. 我的作品是以我作为一个个体的存在以及周围环境和我的关系和影响的一个透视, 也是因为我--作为一个女性艺术家所必须要思考的问题. . 多数作品是基于社会学和人类学的思想, 通过在各种文化领域里的神话和故事, 和我对中国文化和美国文化的亲身体验的过程中逐步形成的, 同时人类情欲的主题也是我作品中的一个重要题材. 我相信每个人都是拥有某种个性和社会身份的, 并且希望每一个人物都在自然的状态中充分体现出来这种鲜明的个性和他们的社会地位, 以及人们生活中发生的事情给他们所带来的人类本性和特征等方面的影响. 
         最近画的这批作品是源于我所居住的环境给我带来的一些生活感悟—是以北京的城市生活为基本素材，通过俯视为方式来观察和审视我的周围社会环境。运用人物, 车辆，树木这些社会和自然因素为内容来表达当下人们的生存状态，以“同一个世界同一个梦想”口号为背景，来表达人类赖以生存的这个环境下的负载性和无序状态。人类强加给自己同时又力图打破束缚的矛盾心理，看似和谐的社会其实有很多不和谐和无奈的地方.

        My artwork is guided by my interest in everyday human relationships and human reactions that often captures aspects of relationships of which my subjects may not be aware. I paint others as distinct individuals, in poses that are natural to them. This involves their social standing, what has happened in their lives, and certain aspects of their character. It’s about my self, my center and the environment I find around me: it is about who I am. I think constantly about the events in my life, places I have been to and the people I have known. Images of beautiful and ugly things play over and over again in my mind just like a movie or pages from a diary. My works are grounded in a perspective of my individual being as it is affected by my relationships to the environments I find myself in and the people I find myself among. This includes my being a female Chinese artist in China and in the United States. My works are based on the sociological and anthropological approaches revealed within them. Basic myths and stories are found everywhere in all cultures, and I have found them in the Chinese and U.S. cultures I have experienced.  In addition, human love and lust is also the most important subject in my works. I believe people have individual identities, essential cores of personality, that are evident regardless how much people attempt to conceal them. I try to reveal these in my paintings. In my work I combine my analyses of peoples’ interactions with a broad acceptance of a subject’s depth of human emotion.

      My recent works are base on the urban environment and everyday thoughts I encounter in my life in Beijing. They feature human beings, vehicles, trees and natural elements as subjects to express the human situation we live with today, which is strongly affected by environmental flux and the city’s hectic preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games under the background idea of “One World One Dream.”
